When I moved to Florida 15 years ago, I only had in mind college, sun and the beach (and not necessarily in that order).  I had no real plans to stay and no real direction in life.  I had to figure out what I wanted to go to school for and I had to get away from the horrible dreary gray skies, so naturally Florida seemed like a good place to start.  I moved to Lakeland, knowing only two other people in the entire state and had no money to do anything worth writing home about.  But I found that Florida is full of “free” activities due to the nearly year round perfect weather and a laid back lifestyle that really spoke to my anxious nature.

Fifteen years later, and I could never have imagined my life as it is now.  I not only stayed in Lakeland, Florida, but I managed to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, fell in love, married, and had children.  My husband and I now raise our kids in the outdoor Florida lifestyle I only had a feint notion existed from glossy magazine ads.

My husband was born and raised in Central Florida, and as such, has a passion and love for the outdoor experiences that are ample year round.  When we first met he took me on many adventures that were common for his family (they still go to the Keys every August for lobster season) and now as we raise a family of our own, I find myself wanting those experiences to be passed on to my children.

Thus, a blog was born to chronicle our adventures outdoors in the great state of Florida.
